9 year old on a fly-in?

Recommended Posts

I'm taking my nine year old son on a fly-in this summer and was wondering if you guys could help me... I will be doing my own research of course but was wondering if I could get recommendations on where to go. I want to go to an outpost camp where there are only 1 or 2 cabins on it. I don't want a guide to be with us and I want to have my son be able to catch walleyes and northers until he's tired. They don't necessarily have to be trophy lakes, just where we can catch a lot. I've been on fly-in trips to Ontario and Manitoba but it's been 10 years. Now my son talks about going fishing all the time (NICE) and it's time to take him to Canada.

I'd probably like to fly out of the Sioux Lookout area (or a little further North.)

Thanks in advance for all your help...

I know you said 1-2 cabins, Sydney lake lodge in ontario has 7, and a lodge (primitive with showers..) I've been going there for around 20 years. There are often other kids in camp to break up the day a little. Fishing is great, and people also. They are on line at sydneylakelodge. Only one of potentially hundreds of recommendations. Best of luck finding the right one! Brent

Took my boy when he was 6 or 7 into Manifrank Lake. I think the name of the outfit was Dogskin. Lot of fish 40" norhtern biggest snake, walleyes some 28-29" light in weight though. 1 Cabin; clean and newer dependable boats, hot water showers. Pretty much a worry free set up. Hopefully he can fly copilot.

I go to Walsten Resorts out of Kenora, tell Kevin Greg from the UP sent you. I have been there the last 7 years. They have about 8 cabins on 5 different lakes, I really like being the only person on the lake. Tons of eyes and HUGE snakes...
