The Mad Mulcher strikes again!

Recommended Posts

After a year long hiatus from the Morson area, Mad Mulcher and his dad returned to Pelican Landing with great success.

Not pictured are the 75 or so walleyes we caught in one day! No trophies but a lot of decent fish from 15" to 19". For the first time ever I can honestly say that I was sick of catching walleyes by the time that day was over! If you have never ice fished the Morson area you are missing out on the best walleye/lake trout/crappie action available anywhere.

Nice fish - I am heading up their this weekend to give it a try. I have not tried ice fishing for Lakers up their do you go through the portage to get to Whitefish? Any tips on where to locate fish? Look for deep holes off the islands? Any tips are much appreciated - Thanks

Our best luck in March on WB has been on mid lake reefs in 35' to 45'. We took the pines and turtle portage trail but a lot of areas were melting pretty good as of last tuesday afternoon. I'm sure some guys can give reports from this weekend or Ken from Pelican Landing can keep us posted on snow conditions. I think welfedted is going up in a day or two so we should get a report from him.

Wild Thing-

At first I thought you were an (Contact Us Please) for falling through next to an ice heave, but without your warning posted here I would have done the same thing myself! With flat light conditions it was hard to see what was on the other side of the heaves until you were right on top of it. Thanks for the heads up.

The snow that is on the lake is frozen hard like a rock and rough however we did receive a inch of snow yesterday with the warmer weather forcast for mid week should be good to go with the sleds. Fished walleyes yesterday with the family caught 40 15 to 18 inches and one 28 incher not sure how to post pictures will email to Mulcher tonight if he would like to post them.

I was up this weekend. The snow that just fell has made snowmobile travel much nicer. (Although you still won't be travelling at high speeds.) Heading back from Whitefish was nasty, yesterday. The snow kept melting on our visors, combined with the wind and rate of falling snow made visibility terrible. We couldn't see 1/8 of a mile. We had driven the SUV on the ice, and not having any good info on the weather decided to drive it off, just in case.

We did manage to get a couple lakers (29", 25"). Just like Mad Muncher says. Don't forget your extension!!
