Optimax alarm

Last year while crusing on the water the alarm would sound for a second or two and then shut off. I have the Digital Smart Craft package on a 200hp Opti. motor and it would give me a "LOW OIL" warning, but the tank was never even close to low and the reserve on the motor was full. Should I be concerned? Any qualified and trained advice would be helpful. HTB

I had a similar problem with my 150 merc. It isn't an optimax, but i was a little annoyed with the inconsistant beeps that I was hearing while moving. My oil tank was full, so I didn't worry about that. I brought it into a dealer, and it turned out that one of my oil injector sensors was stuck thus creating the alarm. A little cleaning and I was alarm free. I am not familiar with all that is involved on the bigger opti's, but it wouldn't hurt to check this out.

I have twin 225 optis and have had this happen a couple times. I have the service equipment to check things out. Turned out to be the magnetic pickup in the oil tank, not the sensor itself, but the part molded into the tank. Tried to buy a tank and found them to be on backorder. Ordered two of them so I would have a spare for the second engine. Replaced tank and retested, problem solved. I have noticed if engine is trimmed up high and motor running I have sometime got a low oil warning, set engine all the way down and it goes off after cycling the key, only on engine that still has original oil resevoir.

I have a 225 opti and it did the same thing talked to the tech and found out to be a bad sensor replaced it and works fine now.The tech said he has seen a few of these sensor go out.
