What does everyone think of this?

Hey Everyone,

I have been looking into this, and i might be wierd but.

When a angler is fishing buzzbaits, does anyone have a problem where the fish are hitting on TOP of the bait, and not hitting the back of the bait.

I seen this a few times last year. And i started to do a different tactic to the bait. Not sure if its the right way.

But wondering if this has ever happend to anyone else before, and if it has, what do you to do make it change. I know its a weird questions, but looking for some feedback. I have used a different tactic on the buzzbaits, but looking for more feedback. blush.gif

when you say "top" are you talking the actuall blade? if yes, you may want to try that crazy looking bill dance long shafted buzz. i think it's called dancin' buzz or something 'cleaver' like that. i've seen him use it successfully on his show, but he always has success on his show. why else would they show it?

Are your bass intoxicated? Maybe rig up another hook that sits atop the bait like a "dorsal hook". This must happen often for it to be a concern to the extent of modifying baits to cater to this arial attack.

No, they come over the top of the buzzy, and then back down on top of it. Its crazy thing. I would love to get a pic, but all my stuff is in the boat in storage, shrink wrapped a a freidns farm. I will try and get it out soon.

What they are doing is trying to stun they're pray. The blade is making noise and splashing water so that’s what they are focusing on. I see this a lot. More so with frogs, they'll slap at it with they're tails to stun it then come back around and inhale it.

Next time this happens with the buzz bait, STOP, let it sink and watch your line. It'll tighten up and when you feel the fish set the hook.

I hope this helps.

I understand where your coming from. That works sometimes, but not alot. The thing that i have seen the best, is when you have that extra hook, your going to get the bite. But, when you do hook a fish with it, that hook will bend the blades, and the buzzy will be shot. So when you do this, you will go threw alot of buzzyz. not a good thing, whe you are having a good day with top water.
