Another iPod question - again

LwnmwnMan2

Question

If you sync your photos from your computer to the ipod, will it erase the music on your ipod if that music is not in your library as well?? Or will it just sync the photos, leaving the music as is??

I bought an open box iPod from a national retailer that advertises the "Best Buy", the iPod already had a bunch of music on it that I was going to rip from my CDs, but if I don't have to go through the hassle, can I just upload / rip my pictures to it, without having to get all this music in my library as well, keeping it on the ipod??

If you are setup to have the I-Pod update automatically instead of manually you will lose the music if it's not in your I-Tunes library.

Your going to want to get the newest version of I-Tunes installed not the one on your CD and READ the help file you can save the music from your I-pod to your computer/library if done correctly.

My concerns would be that this I-Pod has been set up for another user which could cause problems getting it recognized on your Computer you may have to reset the I-pod back to factory settings which will clear the music from it.

So when prompted to decide to update AUTO or Manual select manually update I-Pod for starters, you can switch back later.

Good Luck your going to love it!

I've got it set to manual, not automatic.

I've also got it so that the music is backed up on my computer, just not in the iTunes library.

There's 4000 songs on the iPod, but I only have 300 in iTunes.

I accessed the iPod through "my computer" when it was hooked up to the computer, then copied the music folder to the computer, so I'm assuming that if it DID erase the music, then I could just do the reverse??

What is the file extension on the music that won't play MP3 or MP4?.......try right clicking and opening with I-tunes to see if I-tunes will play it.

If they play now on your I-Pod I would assume they would play again once put back on the POD.

I ended up going to the Apple store at Rosedale Center today.

Talked to the people there, told them I acquired an iPod with music on it that I don't have in my iTunes, but would still like to set it up with my own pictures.

They ended up selling me a camera adapter, so I can just plug the camera straight into the iPod without having to do iTunes.

Essentially, they showed me the way around iTunes (which if you spend 10 minutes on Google you know how) so that I don't have to worry about reloading all the music.
