Guest
SCOTTS I could be interested in duplicating the jigs you need. It's my line of work and I have custom molding capabilities and extensive jig painting experience. I tried the link that Rick posted to view the jigs you need but it just goes to the previous page of the forum. Send any pictures you have to [email protected] and I'll give them a look. I like to restore and design new and old jigs / lures and constantly work on new patterns that consistantly catch fish . Now is the time as once the lakes freeze up, I'm on Ice ! Guest
I can second what Rick said about Tackle City Panfish Jigs. Great product. Also, as Pro Crappie Guy had said, plain hooks with split shot crimped to them can work very well at first ice for Crappies and Gills'. They are a finess type thing though, and require an FL-8 or similar unit to be effective. Basically, when the fish signal meets your jig signal, you automatically set the hook. 4 out of 5 times the fish is there. This pattern is not the best in very clear water however, or for dusk and night fishing. Then I like glow jigs, like ratfinkies, moonglows, and sometimes for large Crappies and Sunnies, small glow jigging spoons.Good fishing, Kevin

stoneeyes317
Just wanted to put in my $.02, since I was just at Cabelas. I am new at the jigging aspect of catching fish; generally whenever I've ice fished, it's been for crappies, and we use a slip bobber set-up with an anchored minnow. The best thing I've found to do this is a jig called a hot head, made (I think) by J.B. lures. I fish mainly around Faribault/Mankato, and the glow or green/glow have worked best. I've thought about using this jig to tempt bluegills, since it is a horizontal jig; if anyone is familiar with this jig, let me know what you think/ your experiences, etc. I have had some success genz worms and fat boys when I have jigged for bluegill and perch. I've got some customs jigs, but the rat finkees seem a bit light... eyes317
