Guest
Just working on the ice-house before the hard water sets in. I am looking at a new heater and was wondering if anyone had any info on vented vs. vent-free heaters. Are the vent-free as good as everyone says? Thanks, kboelk
Gissert
Are you heating a portable, or a permanant shack?
Guest
I am heating a 16'X 8' permanant ice-house. It is insulated pretty good, I am looking at a 10-20,000 BTU heater, will that be big enough? Thanks
Gissert
I would err on the side of 20,000 BTU. I was looking at some of the perm shacks from a factorythat are built near where I live. They were all of the unvented variety.Good luck!
Bryce
For about $500 you can put in a small forced air heater like you would find in a camper. Installed one in my house last winter and was impressed. After cleaning out holes, the floor was dry in well under a half hour. The only drawback is the additional drain on your battery.
justin
if you go to northern hyd. they and mills fleet farm have a blue flame vent free heater that would work well in your shack and you can get it in both gas and propane hope this helps
