Wrist Saver ice fishing rods

Anybody used these yet? My dad picked up a light action rod and a medium action rod at the sportsmans show and gave them to me for christmas. I think the design is great.. I haven't gotten the chance to use them yet but this weekend for sure!

I have a friend that bought a few a couple of years ago. He really likes them, but has had trouble with the reels wearing out. He sent one in to the company, but they told him they couldn't repair it & he had to buy new. I was suprised that they didn't just replace it.

My dad has one and he likes it. I have used it a couple of times and the only thing I didn't like was that the reels seemed cheap. Other than that I think they are good.

well, he bought me seperate reels for it actually so hopefully it won't be too bad.

How did he get the angle on the reel to fit the rod?

the reels handle isn't bent.. just the handle on the rod.

They must have changed them. The one in my basement has a bend on the reel, too.

really? That's kinda wierd yeah they must have changed them because any reel would work for the ones that I have!

This is straight from their HSOforum:

"Our spinning rods require the use of our specially designed bent foot reel."

A regular spinning reel will probably fit, but I don't think the line will go through the guides very well.

I think my wife knows the guy that makes these, so I could find out for sure.

I purchased 2 of these this year, and had trouble with the reels. I tried to use a regular (not bent) reel and it doesn't line up right.
