Toad
If only this were Texas, Matt-- I'd be on a plane tomorrow . Actually, this is a wels catfish, likely an Ebro River fish from Spain. Lots of wels run 60, 70 and well past 100 in a number of European waters, including the Ebro, which probably remains the world's most famous wels producer. Though perhaps not the best for giants. In the past, there have apparenly been authenticated reports of wels pushing the 500-pound mark. Yes, five-hundred. Yehaa! korn_fish
Yeah Matt - thats a wells catfish. They don't reside in any U.S. waters to my knowledge. Maybe it was a guy from texas that caught it though instead of the fish being caught in texas. ------------------http://www.angelfire.com/mn/flatheadpride/index.html
Flashman
yeah, I got that same pic in emails stating it was the new world record blue. The accompanying story was correct but the pic was the one you posted here. I'd like to set the hook into something like that no matter what species it is. CANOPY SAM
Ya know, I'm not so sure I'd be standing in the water that deep knowing a bigger one of those just might be eyeing me up! I'd bet that fish is better than 175 lbs.!
Matt Johnson
Thats what I figured, the story I got was that it was caught down in Texas. I'm not too knowledgable on open water cats so I thought I'd throw this one at you guys Sure is a big fish though.
