Top trophy elk units

Howdy all,

I'm in the process of accumulating PPs for elk and would appreciate some input on which units to target and roughly how many PPs I will need for an archery hunt in those units. I'd like to hunt public land - with or without a guide...not sure on that yet. In general I've been told the northwest section of the state? Thanks, later.

The northwest portion of the state is the place to go. The Division Of Wildlife publishes a magazine right before the application dates that shows each area with the # of PP needed for that area. It also shows the Bull/Cow ratio's for that area. Any more info let me know.

Thanks JB, I'm quite sure my bud in Col has a subscription for that mag....think I could inherit it when he's done Is there plenty of public land in NW COL? Thanks again, later.

Here's a pic of my CO elk from '04 - the only elk I saw in a week hunt....put the stealth sneak on him and got the pass thru at 18yrds - he went about 75yrds. I think it was GMU 161, north of Cowdrey. Gorgeous country there.
