Finding Otter products....

Spent the day in Fargo at 4 major sporting good retailers looking for a large bench seat. Fleet Farm was the only retailer that had a Otter set up and it was a wilderness series. Only Gander had a couple medium seats and a very small display of sleds, hitches, hy-faxes, and parts. I asked one of the Gander employees why they didn't have anything set up and he said that they can order what I need from Otter but they would not be stocking the full Otter line of products. He claimed that Otter wasn't as "friendly" to the retailers like Clam and Frabil and they needed to get their act together before they would restock their product. Last spring I purchased all of my Otter products from Gander and now 6 months later they basicly have nothing. Anyone else run into this?

Seems to be a common practice with Gander. The Gander in Duluth only has the tubs now and when I asked why they said they were still waiting for everything else.

I find your comments right on. I just purchased a Magnum Otter Bench Seat at Canvas Products and they seemed to be the only retailer that had it readily available in stock.

What I really liked was how kind and considerate they were.

The drive was worth it!

FWIW, I just got an Otter Medium Cabin. I still need to find a seat, and so far no luck. Not sure if it is against policy here, but I got a "second" from the factory. Wow, GREAT price, and it actually was only the box it was in that was the "second". The house itself is perfect. The folks at Otter were incredibly helpful, to the point that I will continue to buy Otter products whether direct or through a major retailer. Good people, from the first connection to the person taking the order, to the person taking the $$, the the guys who got the product from the warehouse (I had to pick it up myself, but not too far away froom me).

Anyway, I need to find a medium bench seat, as the factory didn't even have any on hand.So far, Otter is good in my eyes, but there are plenty of nice shelter from all makers, from what I can tell.

-edit- I found a medium seat at Gander Forest Lake, and he said they have plenty. They also the hxfax runners, so I will be getting both tonight. Then I am set... finally.
