Roosterslayer05
Hey does anybody know where i can get a map of the public goose blinds around rochester? Has anybody ever hunted these blinds. Im planing on visiting a friend down there on thursday and thought i might be able to shoot a honker or two.
fishingmike0770
i have never hunted out of any of the public blinds but we went down on saturday to rochester and rented a field with pit blinds from Premier Flights. The setup was good and we saw thousands of birds but they were tough. With no snow, the birds were landing in every field so it was really hard to get them to work with you. We only got two birds and we hunted all day long. After talking with Dean Tlougan, the owner, we didnt do the worst, the other unguided group didnt even fire and their always productive north field(hamburger hill) only got six all day. If you do go down there, i would suggest going on the east side of the river and to the north more of the refuge and north of the infamous "hamburger hill". in the morning, all the birds came from this direction and they all headed that direction in the evening. Good luck if you do go!
smg04
i've never hunted any of these either but from what i've heard u better be willing to camp out the night b4 if u want to hunt one in the morning, i guess they fill up very fast, also i think its all pass shooting, not sure if its leagle to throw out decoys, a coworker of mine said some people put decoys on top of there cars/trucks parked on the side of the road
LOW Lover
I was down there on Sunday with two of my sons and a couple other dads and their boys. We hunted with Top Gun Guide Service (unguided). We too saw thousands of birds, killed seven. The geese would fly over but not decoy in. The geese we shot were loners or dueces. I think Thursday, Friday and Saturday will be hot with the weather coming in. We were south of town right off the highway.LOW

Roosterslayer05
Yea iv heard with all the urban sprawl that allot of the controlled blinds are gone now and there are only a couple left, im totally down to camp out for a blind i just need to find out where they are located! Iv looked all over the internet and talked to guys i know that have been down there and no one seems to know! How much is it to rent an unguided field? I would be interested in that. If anyone else is down there and can hunt thursday morning your welcome to join me.
