JDB,

I havent heard a thing from Peck, but I am sure they have some frozen bays if Nelson was completely froze. You should give Nelson a try if you go to Peck, it can be a real sleeper...

I have some guys that are going to go over to Nelson New Years weekend and I will give a full report when they return. That 6 line rule in Eastern MT really gives a guy some options...

I am heading out the first weekend in March, or the last weekend in February depending on ice conditions. A bunch of guys I know just came back this week, they said it blew so hard they couldn't set up their portables so they just fished tip-ups. Caught many pike 6-10 lbs and one nice 10 lb laker. Hopefully I'll have pics when I come back grin.gifgrin.gif

As promised, here is an update on my trip to Fort Peck.

All I can say is WOW! shocked.gif Certainly not what I had pictured at all. Very remote and isolated. Very quiet - at one time, my ears were ringing from the silence. smirk.gif

However, I have never had more fun fishing! grin.gifgrin.gif Well, that might be a stretch, but it was certainly worth the trip, even though we drove through 300 miles of blizzard to get there.

This first one is my first 10 lb Laker! Pretty sweet. Had her smoked - yum!

Bob scored a nice 9 lb Walleye!

Jason did the best - the pike is just shy of 19 lbs, laker is 9 1/2.

Me setting a tip-up - nice scenery. Notice the first day was cold and windy, the last two were beautiful!

Jason with some more fish on the last day!

Of course no trip would be complete without some of these!

Total tally for 4 guys was 22 pike, 5 lakers, 3 walleyes and a chinook salmon.

Fortunately, we did not have to anchor houses (although we had them along) and actually the last two days the winds were very light.

We were in the middle, near Sunderlin Bay.
