DanL
I'm seeking info on infield camping during the March event. Mainly, are grandstand tickets needed/included in the camping passes? Can one freely move about the infield (pits) during the races? Thanks for any input recommendations.
lawdog
I haven't camped at Vegas but I have on the infield at Kansas City twice. The infield camping pass allows you to be in the infield, nothing more. You can't go into the stands and you can't go into the pits. You need a seperate pit pass to be in the pits and they are not always available. I don't know how much they re-did Vegas' infield when they re-did the track, but the garage area used to be huge there. I think they have re-done it like they did at the newer tracks with a fan zone though since I was in there doing the Richard Petty Driving Experience. OUTDOORNUT
I've camped at Michigan 4 times, at Michigan your passes were good for the infield, but we were allowed to go out to the merchandise trailers and watch any practices and qualifying in the grandstands, but that was it. On race day you just crawl on top of the rig and watch the race. If you don't have a spot close to the edge of the fence, do some visiting prior to race day and you'll have no problem finding a group that will let you watch from their spot closer to the action. We were right in turn 4, so we had great viewing, but always had others come join us because they didn't from their site. A weekend infield will be exhausting.....it was non stop! The only way to take in a race weekend in my mind!
