Iverson Speculation

I wouldn't mind seeing AI here. He's on the books for this year and two more. Depends on what we have to give up (no more draft picks...ours (Summer 2007)is going to the Clippers since we decided to give away Cassell AND our draft pick for stinkin' Marko...unless we finish in the bottom 10 of the league, which is paradoxal because then Garnett will probably want to leave) Also, the wolves wouldn't, shouldn't want to give up a young player (Foye, Smith, McCants), although I hear Philly just loves Foye. Is Billy King dumb enough to take Marko or Hudson? Probably not. James is on a one year contract that ends this year so maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea to pony up for a better pg, since James could conceivably bolt for a better contract offer. The thing is we have to come up with $17 million in contracts for him, and with him and Garnett on the books, you wouldn't have much left to build a team around them with (maybe young guys that are cheap?). They really could only dangle some combination of three, choosing from Blount, Jaric, Hudson, James, and Davis. Two of those names are part of our 2006-2007 version of the 3-headed monster, which has been playing pretty well together lately. I don't think the Sixers would want to take on any three of those guys that aren't any better, don't have shorter contracts, and stretches their salary cap three different ways. Plus they don't get any younger. I also read that Denver has a way better offer (Camby and Miller). But if another team gets involved, it's anybody's guess.

However this still keeps us with derth of big men, let alone talented big men. I will never see a talented big man, short of Garnett, in Minnesota with McHale running the front office. One of the Greatest Big Men of all time, you'd think he could see talent. He can't even develop it.

I'm sure some have and will say that Iverson is a bad character. But he's got more heart than anyone in the NBA. Toughest guy, pound for pound. He's said some stupid things to the media, but what are you gonna do? An uneducated, self-proclaimed gangster with no skills except putting a ball through a hoop. GET GARNETT SOME HELP. McHale are you listening? Garnett's window of opportunity is closing. They won't win the finals with A.I. alone, but the pieces are in place to do something in free agency or the draft.

Although it would be fun to watch KG and AI on the court together, it’s not a good move for the future of the franchise. If your goal is a championship (and hopefully that IS their goal), then a move for AI is not “The Answer”.

McHale has really put this franchise in a tough position with a lot of the moves he’s made, both by giving up draft picks and locking way too much money up in certain players. It’s going to take a lot of hard work and “smart” basketball decisions to get the team back to where we were just a few years ago, let alone to a championship level. Unfortunately, I don’t see KG winning a championship in a Timberwolves uniform, which I thought would have been a lock just a few short years ago.

I would love to se AI in a wolves uniform but I doubt it will happen. I don't know if they would be able to swing it finacially but maybe they can throw some package together that the sixers like. Sure would be fun to see KG and AI on the floor together! grin.gif

Instead of trading for Iverson, how about we trade KG? I love KG and I would hate to see him in another uniform. But for the future of the franchise, that might be best.

I'll start the trade rumor....KG, Hudson, Marko and Hassell to the Bulls for Deng, Nocioni, Gordon and the rights to the Knicks first round pick next year, which the Bulls own.

Make a move like that and get lucky in the lottery, landing a player like Oden....things would be looking much brighter for the future. Of course I would never make that move if I was the Bulls.

Hudson should've never got the contract extension he got, I think it was last season. He never plays a full season, way too injury prone. He is also way too inconsistant as a scorer. Trade him....As for Marko Jaric, he is junk. The Clippers got a steal in that trade deal.

Watching Monday Night Football--they just said that AI has cleaned out his locker and even the nameplate is gone--I believe for the Wolves to do anything while KG is here they have to make the move now!! It seems like you need two superstars to win the whole thing--if they can get along this would be a great combo. Plus the knock on KG is that he doesn't have that instinct in the fourth quarter to put the game away--I know that AI would bring that!

I don't know who the Sixers would want off our roster except they keep talking about Foye. Tough to get rid of the possibility of Foye being really good. And I really don't want to see the Genius, Mchale, give up another first round pick for a player who will make a difference for only a couple of years. Maybe Mcants and some other players and their overloaded payroll. Mcants,T Hud, Stinko J, Griffin and Mchale. Thats our offer.

Looks like the Bobcats are in the hunt for AI. Michael Jordon is trying to get things done. This seems like a big possibility as they have the salary cap space. They are about 16 million under the salary cap.

The best trade in franchise history was likely when they traded Terrell Brandon, whose career was already officially over. It was a 3 team deal that sent him to Atlanta. All that the Hawks wanted was for his salary to come off the books when he officially retired. The Wolves got Sprewell in return. So even though it was short term, I'd say that was a steal to get Sprewell for virtually nothing. It helped them to get to the conference finals. And then Spree was offended when the Wolves only offered him $9 million or whatever it was because that wasn't enough to feed his family. I don't know how he's making it now. Not only didn't he get more money then that, but he never signed another contract anywhere. Poor guy!

That's the only good trade that I can think of that McHale has made. I'm sure there have been one or two others. But his blunders completely over shadow any of his good moves.

Read in the Pioneer Press that Spree is out of bb for now. Enjoying his time away from the game living in Milwaukee. He made a huge financial blunder by not accepting Wolves 3 year deal worth about $7 or 9 million/season. No other team offered him a deal so that is why he is out of the NBA. He won't see that kind of money anymore if he gets a tender next season. Wonder if he's going to the food shelf to feed his family now.
