newbie question- will temps this weekend wreck the ice we have?

Your sig says that you are from the Big Lake area. Central MN is still iffy for safe ice. As always watch out for current, weedy areas and stay off of deep lakes like Pulaski in Buffalo. If the lake you are looking at already has 6" or so of ice the warm temps on Saturday won't have any significant effect.

Thinner ice will lose strength at 32+ degrees so be careful!

The ice insulates itself from the warmer weather, plus you have to remember that even though the high might be 40 there will be only a short period of the day that is above freezing, the majority of the 24 hour day is still below freezing. With that said you still have to be very cautious this time of year. I went through as a kid and was very close to never coming back (until spring anyway).
