You might want to check your gain. Different lures have different sonar returns. My experience with Angle Eyes is they tend to give a very weak return compared to something like a large jigging spoon.

Also you mentioned that you have FL-18. How deep of water are you fishing in and over what type of bottom? If you are fishing shallow you should be using the LP (Low Power) setting and vice versa. A hard bottom will give you a better return than a soft bottom. Also, if you are fishing a sharp break you will get a poorer return because the unit is trying to compensate for the slope causing your return to flicker.

no i know how it should work and this is not it. I guess the only thing I could compare it too would be a vibration. Turning the gain up only elimiminates the bottom. Never used to act like this. Guess I better call vexilar. Is there any truth to the fact that the marcum is a better unit? I have babied my 18 and I am frustrated if it was not for my vs560 i would be really [PoorWordUsage]ed!

Addict, definitely check with Vex. They know their onions. As to whether one is a better unit over the other, there's a stickied thread on this board that has 17 pages of debate. Feel free to wade in there. grin.gif

I'm not going to put in my two cents here, because that thread already exists. You've spent your money on the 18, and it's an excellent piece of equipment, so check with Vex and describe the problem and let them help you instead of being frustrated.
