Hey Boar, it was my pleasure meeting you as well!
I can see by your post that you were pleased with your results on your first visit to the Lower Red. If the truth be told, this World Class channel cat fishery defies description. One simply has to experience it first hand before one can truly fathom the raw physical power of a large catfish!
Anyway it was nice to meet you, see ya next year!

For sure Ed, I've been fishing cats for awhile now but have never experienced anything like that. I dont' expect that to happen every time, but no doubt I,m headin' to stu's on a yearly pilgramage. We had a tripple header on in the boat, I got tangled and had to fight this fish which happened to the 26, and go under this guys rod and line to get free, did so and we landed all three fish with a combined weight of 58lbs. Sounds crazy but it happend. One guy took 54 digital pictures and is going to burn a disc for me,could I send a copy to someone to post some picts. on the forum? Lockport is where there should be a gathering, I know I'ts a ways for you southern boys but what fun, Hit the dam or down river in the daytime and sittin by a fire freinds and suds on the shore at night. Nobody was catching eye's but it'd be fun to get in on some fall walleyes up there but just aint gonna make it. Next june I,m up there, I made res. at stu's for me and canopy the 11-12 04, It'd be great to get a few more of ya up there, I know a spot across from stu's where you could probebly throw out a tent, and hardley anybody fishes past dark, ya'd have the entire shoreline to fish without abruptous interuptous. It'd be a great time. later, Boar

Hey Buddy,

I was thinkin' about your terrific success up on the Red at Selkirk, and something occured to me. When you come down here to fish for flatheads at the beginning of August, you're gonna be really bored!

Sorry Bud, but there ain't no way we're gonna even come close to that caliber of catfishing down here. Unless we can find a nice school of small channels and you just pretend they're 20+ a piece. We could put a handful of 3 oz. no-rolls sinkers on your line - then at least they'd feel bigger!

Sounds like the river is still kickin' out a coupla nice flatties every week, so we'll still have a good time tryin' to find a couple.

Say, about that 18 lb. channel we spoke of earlier. Wasn't that the fish that I caught on your rod off the deep end of a break, just after you grabbed my rod with a smaller fish on? I remember how disappointed you were that you had hastily picked up my fish, only to see your rod go and me catching a much larger cat on it! Or was that a different river trip? Anyway, give me a call and we'll discuss plans for your weekend on the Minnesota river, and possibly neighboring muskie lakes?

Sam, no that was possible the same trip, but a different snag. I set into one fish, then your're rod was dublin' over , you were doing something so I grabed with a free hand and set, then handed you the rod. I pulled in a sheepshead and you had a nice average channel. I wasnt dissapointed but I would've rather given you the rod with the junk HA! Now Sam, I even remember the rod I caught it on, I know you're losing sleep over this fish but its not worth it, you need to except this and move on. It's just a fish. hee hee. I'll call ya. Later, boar
