Custom made slate call

Anybody have any ideas who makes a good custom slate call. I have been useing factory HS,cody's and primos calls with success. I am looking at upgradeing to possibly a custom made slate to my aresenal maybe with something uniqe etched underneath in the wood(if possible) anyone have experiance good or bad. Any help appreciated?

Funny, that's the same arsenal I have. About the only custom slate-type calls that have really impressed me are some high pitched, nasty-in-a-good-way sounding glass calls from some kid in IL. I'll be darned if I can remember the name.

While I've never tried them out, the woodhaven stuff has always impressed the heck outta me. Their diaphragm calls are worth the money IMO, and I'm sure their custom slate/glass calls are too.

Personally, the only reason I carry slates anymore are to give pressured birds a softer or different look, or I like the high pitched raspy glass ones for cutting wind.

If you want a list of good custom call makers and their contact info shoot me an email Chris. I know a dozen or so who really create personalize works of art. Not too bad of a price either.

I use mostly production calls. I do have a few custom slates and boxcalls. In fact I'm seriously planning on building a few of my own this winter.

Jeff- I'll shoot you a email on those call makers. P.S let me know how the process goes if you try building one. This looks like a good option and you can't get any more personal satisfaction than that, may have to give it a try myself!

The NWTF.org site message board has a call thread. Someone on the board lists many custom call makers, types of calls and links to web sites are also included.
