I thought about the Expedition too but I have no need for an MP3 player on my GPS.

I got the ExpeditionC last January from Wade at Jolly Ann Sales in IA (no tax no shipping) for 245.00. I got it over the H2Oc (which was going for 215.00 at the time) for the electronic compass, which I overrated as a benefit -- I've never really taken advantage of it. I never gave a thought to use it for listening to anything until this month while re-reading the manual and thinking that adding audio notes to waypoints might be cool. Turns out there's a built-in microphone somewhere on the unit, but they didn't think to put a headphone jack anywhere! So you have to order HPA-1 Part #119-18 Headphone adapter cable for $17.95. And, it uses the same connection as the cigarette plug charger, so you're unable to use external power while listening! But wait!... You can order CA-12-HPA Part # 119-30 Cigarette plug adapter/charger with head phone adapter for $34.95... So, I think those waypoint sounds might be stored in the unit's memory (?) but song files need to be stored on their own MMC or SD card, meaning your LakeMaster or Navionics map chip sits unused... No thanks. Listening to mp3 files on your gps is like watching movies on your phone. (Hey, wait! People DO that... But it's still stupid.) laugh.gif

You make a good point about the mp3 player I do hate it when manufactures state that you can do these things but be willing to pay the price to do it. Although I was looking at the compass feature as a added benefit, for hunting, atv, up north boating etc. Not sure if it worth the extra price however. Will take all posts in and make a better decision.

Bottom line: with the map on the screen and the trail visible, you can tell which way is north without the electronic compass. Oh, maybe I'll switch to that page once in a while while sitting around camp to settle the inevitable argument over where the sun is going to come up tomorrow, but not enough for the extra price. The trusty Silva compass fills that bill quite handily. laugh.gif
