We got into a bunch of buffleheads earlier in the year as well. It must have been a good year for them as I have heard many good reports of buffleheads being shot this year. Here was a nice pair we shot. The drake took it pretty hard on the one wing otherwise it would be on the wall now as well.
slopmaster
my dad shot a bufflehead 20 years ago and never got it mounted and regreted it. He has always said if he shot another he would get it mounted for sure. Then 3 weeks ago the 2 of us went out and one landed on the oppisite side of the slough so i snuck up along the cattails for about 300 yards and kicked them up cause they were in the middle of the slough. They took off and flew for the decoys and my dad shot the only drake and we are getting it mounted. I think i was more happy when he shot it than he was. Every day i look at that buffle head it will bring back great memories in the field of me and my dad
