cats through the ice

I went out to Golden on Christmas day from 11:30 to 2:30. I caught about 20 crappies, most right around 9". Very light biters. I actually caught 1 small catfish (on maggots/ noodle rod) but it got off my hook just under the hole. It was kind of cool, but I really wish I could have held it in my hands. Oh well, Hopefully I'll get out there in another week or so.

how thick is the ice on golden. Also, do you have any tips for fishing cats thru the ice.

Hi all im pretty new to the forum. but i would also be very interested in any ice fishing tips for cats any of you might have. im quite the river rat in the summer and fish cats frequently but have never gotten around to ice fishing them. it sounds like a lot of fun. any info would be much appreciated.

Pikeslayer: go to the St.Cloud forum and look under Horseshoe chain. There is some good fishing there for cats.

Welcome Pikeslayer! Fishhead and I had a little luck up on the Horseshoe Chain last week. I'm not real familiar with the area (YET) but it seams the Channels there don't mind the cold much.

tanners would be ur best bet in the cities, oh so would pickeral lake in st. paul theres a bait shop close too for info.
