Hotspotter
Folks: Make sure you all get out there and get your apps. in. I know ice fishing looms, and hunting is just wrapping up, but make sure to get it done! Joel
Greybeard53
Thanks for the reminder, but there's no way I'd miss that deadline. Those big 'ol birds are an addiction.
Hotspotter
Got burned this fall, decided to apply early. Me 'n Jonny P went to apply on Saturday, as I'm going to try and put him on some birds this spring. The whole buddy system works well with turkey applications, as you both become so paranoid about missing the deadline, you freak each other out and into the license agent to apply!Joel
The Yeti
I've never Turkey hunted before, but want to this spring. Can you apply online, or do you have to send it in or how does it work?
BeerHunter
You can apply online but for some reason the site is not working. Easiest thing to do is just go to an els center and apply. If the person knows what they are doing it takes a couple of minutes.
Shoot2Kill
Yeah, what's up with the online system not working? Hello....might want to get that fixed there MN DNR....the deadline is tomorrow. I've been trying to apply on line for over a week now and it doesn't work. Guess I'll be the ultimate procrastinator and go apply at an els center tomorrow. Hotspotter
Shhhhh! One more day to get through. I love asking all the turkey hunters I know if they remembered or not. Inevitably, a few always forget, then blame me for not reminding them Joel
Gus
The online ELS has been down for quite a while. They said on the news there were some security issues and it has been down ever since. I know it's been a few months. Hope you got there in person. Good luck to all who apply!
DooWap
I think it's been down since like August even, because it didn't work when I was applying for the Camp Ripley deer hunt.
Studer
I'll be the first (Contact Us Please) to admit that I spaced it and forgot!!! I am a little mad at myself but what do you do. I wanted to bow hunt for them!!! Is there a seperate application for archery by chance or am I S.O.L.???
Gus
If the rules don't change from last year you can buy an over the counter archery tag that is good for the last two seasons only. So you are not SOL. But you won't be able to hunt the first part of the season. There is only one application, if you are drawn you may use either the shotgun or the bow during your drawn season. Studer
Thanks Gus!!! I thought that there was still some way but didn't have the regs book right in front of me!!! Cool. I will defineately take advantage of that. No one else will be hunting Turkeys where I'm at so they should be pretty undisturbed. It sure would be fun to stick one this year!!! Thanks for the response again.
Gus
No problem. Last year I went with the bow and did see turkeys. Just nothing close enough for a bow shot. I plan to do the same this year. I have a preference point built up now so hopefully I'll get drawn for an early season but I'll be out even if I don't. I love bowhunting!
gorrilla
I just called the Department of No Response and they said that we wouldn't hear results of this springs lottery until mid February...How long can a computerized drawing take????
tealitup
Terrible! Look at South Dakota or Colorado for their results from drawings. Mostly take 2-4 weeks.
Hotspotter
Before complaining too loudly, look across the border Also, the MN DNR does quite a bit more IMO than many other states at ensuring a quality hunt with equal pressure amongst seasons than almost any other state. While I agree, the drawing system could be sped up, we've got it too good to complain much. Joel
