Hooking 2 batteries together.

I want to hook my 2 12 volt batteries(these are deep cycle) together in my ice house. Everyone seems to beleive they last longer this way.

I have the house wired for 12 volt lights.

Do I go + to + and - to - and then to my fuse box. I do not want to create a 24 volt system??

Yep!! Still 12 volts, but will last twice as long

Make sure your batteries are preferably of same make, size, and age along with full charge before connecting them parallel.

Direct charge systems from your alternator work great on your house batteries as well. Will always have large amounts of power and easy/quick recharge to keep them healthy without touching them all season.

They are twins...purchased 1 year apart. I use them in my boat in the summer.

What do you mean realtive to the constant charge?

If you have a 12V system like tow in charge or stay n charge (basicly a 10 gauge + - wire with a (30) amp breaker) that is run off your trucks alternator, you simply recharge the house batteries as needed direct from the truck.

If you have a wheeled house it is being charged as you roll down the road and you always have full charged batteries. Or just charge on the lake by truck start.

Never a need to deal with batteries !!

I always keep the house temp @ 40 and batteries are nothing but ever chilled at best, but never froze so the life & charge hold up great!!
