Design Ideas for a 2 - 3 person permannent deer stand

I would like to replace a delapidated old stand back in my woods with a comfortable stand which would also double as a wildlife observation platform. I am thinking about something essentially 4'x8' in floor size with some walls and a roof. Does anyone perhaps have any photos or other tips I can incorporate in designing and building a stable and comfortable woodland retreat. I will have the luxury of being able to stabilize the structure by connecting it to a large tree trunk.

Thanks

I think it may be easier to build it freestanding, meaning it would be on poles rather than attached to the tree. If I remember I will snap a couple of pics of some of ours for reference. In case I forget, we used telephone poles for the poles, about 3 ft in the ground secured with concrete. just build a basic stick frame shelter on top...pretty simple if you have the equipment.

This was a topic a while back. Maybe it will help you get some ideas. Scan down and you will see a photo of the stand that I built this past summer. I took a nice doe out of it last weekend with my 2 kids there. They were more excited than I was, which made the time and money to build it all worth while.

duck2, post your email. I have plans in an excell drawing format and photos. Free standing tower. Can be made 4x4 or 4x8. With a roof if you want. All green treat wood. Will last for 30 years. I don't even have to check my stand before the season. I know it is ready to go. Very safe to climb into. The whole stand is bolted and screwed together.

I'd like to post a photo of our deerstand over in Wisc and will try to e-mail you the jpeg file. Two ideas though, FF a certain big box store has a steel frame to which you attach you lumber and put up, or go to Menards and get on the computer there and build and "elevated deck to the demensions you'd like. I have also thought that a person could build a platform at the required height size and then anchor a pop up type portable blind to the deck that way you can put it up early and then take it down after the season and you have minimal lumber costs involved. Just a thought. I'll try to get the jpeg to you.
