THE FEVER!!!!

The countdown is on. I will be leaving for deer camp in 24 hours. From now until this time tomorrow I will completely worthless at work. Each year I suffer from the same symptoms. Shaky hands, daydreams, uncontrollable list making, packing, unpacking, double checking, horrible nightmares of missing that huge buck 50 yards in front of me, sweaty palms, fidgeting, and the inability to shave for weeks. There is only one cure and I am about to receive my yearly inoculation at 6:25 AM Saturday Nov 4th.

It is and like every year I have caught this fever as well, happens about the exact same time every year, it just goes to show now matter how well you plan and try to avoid getting "sick from this fever" you can't hide you have to take it on full force and just know that in 2 days, 9 hrs, the cure will be there for me

I've only shot 4 bucks in my life, the biggest being a mediocre 3rd year deer. But there was one time where I had a huge buck coming my way....I didn't get a good up close look at it, but from what my one cousin told me, it was somewhere between 12 and 14 points. I do know the antlers were long and the rack was the widest I had ever seen. Anyway, when it was trotting my way I could see the rack from just over a hill in front of me. Unfortunately it took a turn and didn't get within range, but it is the one and only deer I've ever had the fever on. After it turned and left, I walked back to my truck and was very weak in the knees. My hands were shaking. I'd like to think though that if he would have come by me, my hunter instincts would have taken over and I would have been completely focused on the shot. But, it never happened so oh well.

My cousin who got a good look at the deer also got the fever, big time! He got 5 shots off at it when it ran 10 yards from him. He said while he was shooting, all he could see was rack! He was teary-eyed after missing it. smirk.gif

Just get me to my dearstand put me on a plane

Hurry hurry hurry before I go insane

I can't control my fingers I can't control my brain

Oh no oh oh oh oh

My sickness should be cured sometime early Saturday morning when I am heading to the stand. As the weekend gets closer the work production goes down and anticipating the weekend goes up. Am pretty much packed (was ready on Sunday). I got the 30 point Buck song stuck in my head.

I don't know where I would be or what kind of condition I would be in without this HSOforum. I have spent the last two weeks disregarding everything my professors say in class, by reading the posts on this HSOforum. I cannot wait to get into the stand on saturday. Good luck everyone.
