My Old Barrel Heater went out and I want to replace it. I am pricing out and Looking for Pros and Cons to Either the Vented Propane Heater or Wood Stove for Camper/Fishouse. I am looking at one of those tent stoves for wood or a Vented/Non Vent Propane Heaters. And I need to get it in this week so install needs to be quick...Any Ideas.

I realy don't think wood is that cheep once you fugure in gas, time, oil, ect.

If your going to sleep in the shack vented is the only way to go, you will have a few guy say they have non vented heaters and they have slept in there shacks without proplems, I for one realy don't want to take the chance.

LP is just ez'r to deal, cut and dry

Everyone likes the smell and crackle of a nostalgic wood fire. Other than that, a vented LP wins hands down. It's easier to start and regulate. None of that 100* one minute, 30* the next. And for a sleeper I'd hate to get up and add wood in the night.

If you are looking for something beside just heat, wood is a good way. But gas has to be the way to go as so very many shantys use gas. You can't fight with those odds. A wood burner would set your shack apart from the rest but not the most pratical way.

Good Luck!

Go with the vented. We have a woodstove in our sleeper now and it can be a pain in the butt.I love it during the day but it is sorely lacking at night. Hauling wood...laying on your back gasping for air when its 140 degrees in the top bunk at night only to wake up at 4 in the morning and its -20(literally).
