Throttle Body rebuild or replace

IFallsRon

Question

I've been researching a rebuild of the TBI on my beater truck (88 Silverado 4.3L). At about $320, I'm thinking I might be better off with a remanufactured TBI, knowing I can bolt it on and go rather than taking my chances that I have replaced what's wrong with the existing unit. Has anyone done a rebuilt or replacement?

Why are we rebuilding it? Pressure regulator leaking, Bushings leaking, Bad injectors? If the bushings are worn than I could se it not being a do it yourself type job. Anything else and a rebuild kit should cover it and would be cheap and easy!

The other option, if the bushings are worn out, is to check around for a used one. There shouldn't be any reason you cant find one that had low miles, for a fraction of the cost of rebuilding.

Good luck Ifalls!!
