ALMOST went out.. but the temps... and the poor reports of late...

I was out yesterday and I picked up six fish in three hours. The bite is the same as it has been for the last week. Just work it SLOW and it will produce fish.

I went out on friday and found the best bite to be on reaction lures, got about 25 bass from 12-19 inches. Rattle traps and deep diving cranks was the key.

Today, a shallow crankbait was the way to go. The largest was 5 pounds, three ounces. They were in 3-5 feet of water around weeds. It was pretty chilly out there in the wind.

Fished Friday after work. It was dang chilly out. My fishing partner got a bass on the third cast, thought it was a good sign, an hour and a half later I was thinking otherwise. I stuck with a jig n pig, and was finally rewarded with a 19"er. 2 guys, 2 and a half hours fishing, 2 bass. Then I heard the magic words "Happy Hour??". Couldn't get off the lake fast enough.

I've been out daily. Smallie fishing has been super with a few walleye mixed in (as of Oct. 27). Guiding has been slow this fall so I've been out learning new locations and presentations all this month. Really beating them up using Sonars in 25 to 30ft of water near main lake structures. Often walleye are close to the humps with bass being a little further away. I'm afraid the walleye have become much more aggressive than the smallies since the water temps. hit the mid 40's. Work slowly and be methodical is my only advise. I'll be heading out this weekend for sure!
