Fall or Spring Lawn Seeding??

I need to know what you guys recomend. I have done it both but have had people tell me I'm crazy to do it in the fall.

I like to do it in the fall, but you need to do it 6-8 weeks before the cold sets in. So, sometime the end of August to Mid September.

I would also agree with the fall.In the spring when it rains and the snow melts your seed is already there and you can just watch it grow.I have always done my personal seeding in the fall and had very good luck.This is not to say that the spring wont work.

I always do fall and it works great. I usually seed about 4 or 5 times a year. Gets and keeps your lawn real lush. Just an overseeding. Don't have to do real heavy just a light seeding.

I seeded a new lot Nov 1, 2003 hoping for it to come up great in the spring. It did.

However, the first spring rain of 3 inches really caused some gulleys that I had to refill and reseed.
