Lund4ver
Ok guys, there has been a debate between my cousin and my self for years about which choke is best for grouse. My father and myself have also shot a modified choke, and on the other hand, my cousin has shot an improved choke.....Now I am sure that this might stir up a debate, but just wondering what you guys use.Going out this weekend (first time this season), and might have to take both chokes with and see if one makes a difference or not. Thanks in advance for your opinion/advice.David
DRH1175
Improved or cylinder bore. Shots are close. Usually 20 yards or closer. The more open your pattern is the better. I know they also use to make a spreader load that would open even sooner for grouse. I also like 7 1/2 or 8 shot loads.
Cobra
I agree with DRH!!!!Quick shots with an open bore is the ticket. The big pattern is a plus and you don't tear the birds up like you would on a modified or tighter.
metrojoe
I've got an O/U. I go with cylinder in the first barrel and improved cylinder in the second for early season. I'll probably switch to improved cylinder and modified soon.
duckbuster
O/U here with both barrels being Improved Cylinder. I never change them when I hunt ducks either. All it takes is one BB to bust a wing and a good dog.71/2 is the load I use.GOOD LUCK this weekend!!!!
