Crawlers for Fall Fishing

Recommended Posts

I am going up to Morson this weekend. I brought crawlers up this past Summer for the first time. They worked as good as the $3.00 to $3.50 per dozen minnows that I purchase in Canada. By the flat, the crawlers cost much less. What kind of luck do people have in the Fall usng crawlers as bait. Any opinions would be appreciated.

I've had my best success in the Fall with (shhhh . . . don't let anyone in on this secret) a simple jig and minnow grin.gif

Seriously, we've tried trolling and jigging crawlers in October, but not much action - the fish were looking for minnows. Everyone at Buena Vista and Mylies I talked to last weekend were pulling out the minnow buckets too.

Hey Buddy,

We've found in the fall that the minnows are usually pretty big and we usually cut them in half and do just as good and get twice the use.

See you this weekend.

See you this weekend. Jigs and minnows and jigs with plastic tails (3" twisters or Gulp minnows). We normally don't use crawlers this late in the season. Don't throw away any dead minnows. We keep using them till they fall off the jig. Bait dealers don't like this.
