Code-Man
my old man used 4 treated 4x4's 16 feet tall and about 2 feet from the top he built a floor and support beans going down with 2x4's. put up some cheap 1/8-1/4" chip board for walls on the outside. then we put it in the ground about a foot-2 feet and used some quick create to set it up solid. Nice stand. We put some old carpet we had on the floor and that was the best thing ever so much quieter. My dad's a trucker not a carpenter and there is a reason and it works great. Wish he would have built a roof on it though.
carpshooterdeluxe
find an old running gear from a gravity box style grain wagon and use that as the base for your stand. that way you have built in road friendly portability. we have four of these. one is even adjustable in height. if i can find some pictures i will post them this week. bigbucks
Please post those pics. I've been planning on building one for about 6 months, just haven't gotten it done.We build them in trees & all different types of trees. Find a big tree in a spot that the deer are coming by & then figure out a way to build one. Very few of ours are similar other than a big double trunked white oak is tough to beat. We have several small platforms, 2' by 3-4', in those types of trees, some have seats, some didn't have room for one.
