Great place to find a used auger!

I went out to the local pawn chop chain last night (the one with the tv commercials) and picked up a 3 year old strike master lazer for $160. It's in good shape and started right up. They don't have them out on display for winter yet but if you ask them they will let you in back to check them out. I went to the Anoka store and they must have had over a dozen to choose from. You can also do a search on their HSOforum and it will show you how many augers they have at a location. Now that I've got mine I thought I'd share this tip with you guys.

Two years ago I picked up a Jiffy Legend (yellow shroud) 3HP, 10" at Prince Bait in Milaca for $150. There wasn't a scratch on the thing, and the auger looked brand new. I had to ask the guy if there was something wrong with the price being that cheap. Haven't had any problems with it other than the fact that I broke the rope towards the end of last year, and that's not a big deal.

You can also pick up nicely priced, gently used flashers, too!

Pawn shops are awesome for outdoor gear. I just picked up a Mr Heater cooker this summer for $30.00. Still in the box and you can tell it has never been used because the heat shield has no discoloration at all.
