Climbing Tree Stand

Question

Just bought a Loggy Bayou climbing stand it has the wire type strap that goes around the tree. I just had a friend tell me he knows of 3 people that have fallen from this type of stand. He perfers the metal type strap around the tree. Please let me know you thoughts guys before I start climbing trees with it. Thanks

i think they sell an attachment for those stands to assist you in climbing, they are on Amazon. I have a cheapo climber i found at Walmart for $50 and have had no problem with it, it has the wire type strap.

I think you are asking about the type with a 1/4 steel cable as the attachment around the tree? I have used my summit many many many times, with no problems. I think most people that have difficulties do so because they pick the wrong type (smooth bark) or size tree (too large or small) for their stand. Also, like any stand, you should use a harness while climbing. It only takes maybe 60 seconds extra to climb with a harness on and attached to the tree...
