Could the 06' Tigers replace the infamy of the 69'Cubs???

For those baseball junkies,,, the Cubbies of 69' held a 11-12 game lead on the Mets in mid-aug. The proceeded to lose the div by 5-6 games to the Mets and not make the playoffs.

On Aug 7, 2006,,, thee Detroit Tigers lead the Chicago White SUX by 1 game and the Minnesota Twins by 10.5 in the AL Cent, and the Tigers were 40 games over .500 at 76-36. IF, and I stress IF, the DETROIT Tigers fail to make the playoffs,--- would this not equal the most total collapse of any team ever???? It's not talked about due to the advent of the popularity of the NFL, but my goodness, the Detroit Tigers could replace the only team worthy of such infamy, the C.Cubs,, and wouldn't that be a nice thing????

Since starting the season 57-31, The White Sox have gone 27-34 so far in the second half.

The '69 Cubs went 61-37 during the first half before finishing 31-33 in the second half.
