tightline25
Please advise me on suggestions on making a wood floor for my 14' v-hull style aluminum boat. I was thinking about 3/4" plywood (with spar varnish)on some type of frame, covered with marine grade carpet. I need ideas on the how to design the frame and decking around the bench seats. Open for all suggestions or advise including kits or websites. Thanks
JollyT
Whatever you do, don't use treated plywood or lumber!!! The new chemicals that are used for treating will eat aluminum like crazy!!! You'll have a nice floor and no boat!!! Use a good exterior rated plywood, doesn't have to be marine grade ad put a good waterproof coating on it before the carpet goes on. Neiko
I have a older starcraft 14ft that I did this too and it is so much nicer to be able to stand up in and fish. I took out the 2nd seat from the back and used 3/5 greentreated plywood along with a single 4x4 greentreated landscaping timber in the middle for support. I then put some outdoor carpet on with adhesive glue. I did it on a whim but if I had time I would probably put in a door on the bottom for little stuff maybe.
