rickmp
Taking a quick poll as a friend of mine and I seem to differ on which is the best way to prepare a fish. I always gut them before filleting, he says to just start cutting. Any opinions?
STILLNOFISH
I have always started to fillet first. I Use an electric fillet knife, absolutely love it.
Twitter
As long as they're fresh, I just filet them.I've never gutted a fish.....why bother ?
icehousebob
When I have to transport Walleyes or other fish that are supposed to have a patch of skin remaining for identification purposes, I just slit the belly, take out the guts, and pull the gills. Then I transport them packed in ice and fillet them at home. This will firm up the flesh nicely also. If I'm fishing close to home, I just fillet them without gutting.Practice CPR--- Catch, Phillet, and Refrigerate.
