I always see people using goose flags on tv in the fields. Does anyone ever use them on the water hunts for geese? Is there a art to it, any tips or tricks? Any one ever add a few duck dekes in the spread for the goose season only?

We are going to throw some full body duck decoys in our early season goose spread this year we have been seeing a few ducks mixed in with the geese so we are going to give it a try. If it works or not im not quit sure Hopefully it does.

I would say that flags are a great addition to the spread in the field. . only if you are hunting out of layout blinds or some sort of bling that lies within the decoys. . they provide a lot of movement and get the attention of them honkers. . . i know we have at least one in the blind maybe even two sometimes. . .

if we are not in a pit or in our layouts we will only use the flag if they are WAY off in the distance...sometimes I'll just run out into the spread and start flagging...

I plan to bring a flag along for water hunts this year providing the geese are quite a ways away. Also plan on using a jerk cord more than a roto so we still have a chance to decoy some geese.
