Fixing a winch

I am having trouble with my Warn winch in that I cannot seem to disengage the clutch to allow it to free spool. The only way I can let cable out is by using the "out" switch.

I've already hit it with a hammer so I have exhausted all my mechanical where-with-all, anyone have any ideas?

Squirt some WD-40 in and around the engage/disengage knob and see if you can work it free.
