Popper Action?

I don't use too many poppers in general but I do use a skitter pop when conditions are right. I guess to keep it real simple; there are no real right or wrong ways. Let the fish tell you how to do it. First a steady pop, pause, pop, pause (then very your pause durations). At times the fish will want the bait moved quicker & with more vigir. So Pop it harder causing more noise and more water to splash. Other times very slow subtle twitches may be the ticket. In my experiance it helps to keep the rod tip down and angled slightly away (to the side) on the retreve. This alows me to (walk the dog) a bit during my retrieve if I so choose. Have fun with this.... I caught those smallies in my avatar on silver/black skitter pops. Both fish hammered the skitter after a good 4-5 second pause above some large bolders. blush.gif I'm certainly no self proclaimed expert but I hope this helps ya. smirk.gif

Like fever says.. each day is different. If I feel the fish are going to be pretty active I will pop that thing pretty fast, real short burts with the rod as I slowly crank the reel handle... Other days I'll pop th elure and let it just sit in a good spot for up to 30 secconds without moving it.
