Cooter
If this topic has already been thoroughly exhausted please let me know. If not, I need some kind of wall display for beards and spurs and am looking for ideas. Currently, about half my beards/spurs are capped in epoxy with little screw eyes on them. Thanks, later. harvey lee
They do make beard holders out of wood and some styles will hold the spurs also. You could also make a spur necklace if you have enough.Kind of cool looking.Try Cabelas. If you are a little handy, you could get a nice walnut or oak board and make a design with the edges routered. Then make a dowel peg to attach to the board.Hand the beard from the dowel and place the spur pointing out on the end.Lots of ways to display your trophies.I have 6 nice beards from 8-10.5 inches and 9 nice spurs that I have been thinking of doing that to.Mine just lay on top of the gun cabinet. Some day.
Greybeard53
Cooter,For the beards I use the brass off the shell I used to bag the bird. First, I cut the brass off the shotgun shell, pop out the primer and run a strip of leather (a bootlace works) with a knot on the end through the inside of the brass. Then I glue the beard inside the brass with epoxy. That way I can hang it from a shelf or a tail fan holder. For the spurs, I cut off the leg bone just above and below the spur. Hollow out the leg bone and thread it onto the leather strip above the beard. Or you could put them on a seperate piece.
Cooter
I've seen and like the spurs with part of the leg hollowed out and might try that - although I'll have about half that I dremmeled off and epoxy capped and half with part of the leg. I haven't saved any shells either Think I'll start on Cabelas and go from there. And no, I'm not handy or at least don't like to be My neighbor is though!! Only 6 beards Harvey? You got some catchin up to do there old boy!

Norsky
I built this display cabinet a year ago. I put some Browning and PF logos on the doors. I did the turkey fan display myself with Borax to preserve the feathers, a piece of cedar with the feet, and a shotgun shell to hold the beard.
