hunting vest

I have several traditional hunting vest. My complaint is that when loaded down with water for the dog and my self they put all the weight on the back of my neck and shoulders causing neck and back pain. Has anyone tried strap vest or pack vest like the Mother's day pack? I usually carry 4 20z bottles of water and rain gear when hunting all day, If it is hot I may carry more water.

Look at a Pella Bird-n-lite vest. I have their coat and it has really helped take a load off of my bad back.

check cabela's, they have hunting vests now with the "camel back" design, that holds the water in the big pouch instead of bottleing it.

I bought a Pella strap vest for this fall. Seems to help distribute the load. The one knock I have is that the game bag is a little too high and it is hard to put stuff (birds, bottles, training gear in it. I hope to try it in Sept at a gamefarm so I'll report back.

I have taken to using a fanney pack with a canteen for water. That saves the vest for birds and shells.

There are a few vests out there with the stretch material around the neck and shoulder area. I just picked up a cabelas model but I know that the columbia vest is very nice as well. Amazing how heavy some shells and birds can get or even the gun slung over the shoulder after tromping around afield for the day
