Top bunk measurments..

Just curious as to what everyone has for their top bunk clearance. Looking for the measurment from the ceiling to the bunk top, not including the matress. Also, how wide is it?

Looks like I've got about 33" from the top of my window to the ceiling. I could go with a 30" wide bunk, but I'll only have about 27-28" of head room (ceiling to top of bunk) Add the 4" matress and I'm down to 24".

i sleep with less than 24 every night.... you should be fine... it might take some getting used to

Take the circumferance of your rear end and then divide by pi or eat a pie..... anyway take that measurement and it will give you the width that will have you sleeping like a baby:-)))))))

the thing to remember is that "hot air rises"!!!! I bought a house with bunks. my top bunk is only about 20" below the ceiling, and very narrow. If I would have built it myself, the top bunk would be considerably lower and wider. me and a buddy slept in it last year, I was surprisingly the lighter of us, so I was on the top bunk. I roasted my a$$ off in my underwear all night while my buddy was in long johns, insulated pants, a sweatshirt, jacket and a heavy sleeping bag on the bottom bunk!!

Install a 12V fan and push all that hot air down to the floor. You and your a$$ will be much happier.

I have 22" and all is well. It is cozy but very workable.
