How's the fishing on Annie Battle?

I dont really care much to take a trip that far but has anyone fished it? Is there some quality fish in it? I think it would be neat if the DNR would implement regs similiar on some of the lakes in the metro or other lakes around the state.

If you're unaware of the regs for the lake, you cannot use any fish locators/electronics, gas augers, or gas motors. The panish limits are down to five for both crappie and gills.

I know I wouldnt mind fishing a lake 'blind' if it meant I had a chance at catching some decent fish close to home.

Annie Battle is a jewel. Clean, clear, and nearly unspoiled. Prior to the heritage regulations, it got some pretty good pressure, and may still be recovering from that.

Not just prior to the "Heritage" regs did it get pounded....The lake was virtually destroyed again after an unbelievable recovery....People can't help but flock to a lake that has above average panfishing...Post's naming tiny lakes like Annie don't help either...The whole park has seen incredible growth since opening and it will be interesting to see how the small lakes stand up to the increase in pressure.

Sorry for naming it, but I didnt think I was bringing up anyones tiny honey hole in the middle of no where. But my point of this post isnt because I want fishing reports for the sake of fishing, hence "I dont really care to take a trip that far." I was just curious if it actually had decent sized fish as a result of the new regs.

I think it would be neat if they had a few more lakes like this especially in the metro. Maybe plant a few bull gills and slab crappies to get the ball rolling. It would be neat to give the fish the upper hand and see if we could get more quality fish as a result.
