Rigging an LCX-20C for ice fishing

iffwalleyes

Question

Ok guys I feel the need to put more gizmos in my truck for this next year ice fishing. I know some of you have mounted your larger GPS/Sonar units in your vehicles for use on the hard water. Just curious what you have to do to make this work. I see lowrance has a cigarette lighter plug in power cord for this unit but my question is will this power the receiver as well or do I have to get power to that separately. I guess I should have paid more attention when Marine Man was putting it into my boat at how that all worked.

I mounted the puck on the top of the truck cab and a ram mount to hold the unit in the truck I have the 332 and I did not have to run a power to the antena just plug in and go. wait untill you get it on the ice it's so COOL.I did have to drill a hole in the back of the cab for the ant wire other than that prety simple.just get power to the unit and place the ant and your off and runing

Ok heres the scoop. They make a flat bracket that Cabelas sells, that allows you to mount the puck right behind the unit when using a ram mount. It is $12 has a bunch of holes in it for different units. You will have to get power to the unit and the puck. I just tied the 2 red wires together and one black wire to a cig lighter with a fuse in the tip. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A FUSE IN LINE

I have mine rigged on a Genz blue box. You can run it off the vexilar battery also so you can walk around on the ice to find that hot spot.

Ya the Cabela's bracket is slick. That is what I have on my Boat now. I am planning to just buy one of Ram Mounts long arm mounts 10" long and mounting a ball on the center hump of my truck. Hopefully this won't put the puck to far out of the way to get locked. But if it is then I will have to move the puck onto the dash. You shouldn't have to mount it on the outside of the truck. Although this will give you the best signal.
