Future rigging for kicker motor

eyepatrol

Question

After much research, we've determine that we won't be able to afford a kicker motor on the boat we order. However, I was wondering if anyone knows whether boats can be rigged and ready for a kicker motor for a future purchase? If it's possible, I'd like to have the boat rigged with dual fuel line hook-up and such so that come tax returns in 2008, we can get the kicker motor.

Thanks!

I just bought a used boat from a private party. It has the dual fuel lines. Since I bought the boat used, I am not exactly sure if the second fuel line was prerigged when the guy bought it new, or if it was put on after that fact. But it does look exactly like the fuel line for the main motor. So I am fairly certain it was pre-rigged that way.

Most boats that you would consider putting a kicker on are ready to be rigged for one. If you go with remote control you'll need to pay and have the controlls added, a second fuel line run (easy to do on most as they are set up for it), steering bar (if you go that route), and the mounting taken care of (i.e. Panther mount if your motor doesn't have trim/tilt).

Should be no problem, just tell the dealer. You can work out the details on any mounting bracket and steering / throttle controls.

Also, the best fuel line set-up is to have 2 seperate lines coming from the tank (versus having one line that is 'T'ed). I would definately address this when you buy. My guess is the best way to go would be one fuel line until you have a kicker, then add the second fuel line to the brass fittings on the tank.
