Taking care of a wet/sumberged reel

One of my spinning rods went into the drink and I'm wondering what I should do with the reel? I'm assuming just leaving it as is would not be a good idea, so I'd like to know from the experts what I need to do so it doesn't corrode and break down. Oh, and it's a Shimano Symetre if that makes any difference.

I would suggest taking it apart as far as you can and dry everything off and lube and grease it where it was before and put it back together.
