Hole in my boat

Sandmannd

Question

I just bought a boat a couple of weeks ago. I couldn't figure out why I had to run the bildge every hour or so and had quite a bit of water in it. I brought it to work today to go out after work and was showing it to a coworker. In the morning sun I saw something hanging loose under the boat. I looked close and there is a hole under the boat with a patch job coming loose. Does anyone know how I could fix this or is this something I should take in and have done? What would I use to fix it or where would I go to have it fixed?

I'm sure it's someone just trying to get to this guy by getting people to call his phone and show up at his house. At the same time, it sucks for freaks like me that show up and waste their time at it. At least it was only a couple of minutes from my house. I'd like to bust the person setting this all up on the poor guy though.

I'm starting to lean towards scrapping the boat and putting the motor and trailer with another boat. I have to shop around until I know for sure though. I tride to find Goffer on Dexonline to see how much you get for scrap but can't find them in the phone book. Does anyone know anyone else that salvages boats?

I lucked out, thought I would call it into insurance and see what they say, they are going to cover it. Anyway, they are totaling out the boat, so it looks like I'm in the market for a new boat. Any suggestions? I was looking at the 2002 Alumacraft 165c in the sales sections. Thoughts on that boat?
