I came across this chokecherry patch and was amazed at the "tents" these caterpllars had made...woods was full of these bushes with these tents....not exactly sure what species the caterpillars are...jonny

We got them caterpillars down here too. I've seen them defoliate a whole entire tree before. Not a leaf left on it.

So, my question is, do they turn into a moth or butterfly or something?

Dan.....I think they're called "fall webworms"...and develop into a bright white moth (good moth ID sit e)...guess they really like berry trees of different types...jonny
